Learning how to program is getting a lot of buzz right now. Adults are looking around and noticing that software is eating the world and wanting to be a part of it. You even have extremely busy adults with secure jobs getting in on the action, like NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg. But what is being done for kids?
There is a lot happening in this area, but it is very hard to scale. Barack Obama has been talking about it for years – how the United States needs to do a better job encouraging science and engineering to compete on a global scale. Unfortunately top down approaches are too slow; even the President of the United States does not have the power to quickly change the curriculum in schools. The best that can be done is support grassroots movements like Code Summer+.
While parents certainly care about the progress on the national level, it is much more important what is being done for their children. Are they receiving the proper introduction to computer programming? If they enjoy it, do they have somewhere to go to learn more?
If you answered no to either of those questions, we are here to help. Breakout Mentors works 1-on-1 with our students to provide the absolute best education in programming, personalized to their interests and skill level. We’ll let the President worry about getting more students interested – we want to work with the students that are interested and have no where to turn to learn more. These are the students that will have fun and continue long enough to unlock the incredible benefits. Contact us today to learn more.
