Hongbin is a junior at University of California San Diego. He is a specialist on our Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning team, with a lot of personal projects in this area. Hongbin leads the computer vision team for his school’s robotics competition team – think BattleBots if you ever saw that on TV!
When did you start to code?
I started to code in my Junior year of High School in my AP Computer Science class.
Why is it important for kids to start coding when young?
Coding is a fun and rewarding process. Besides that, coding motivates kids to think critically about a problem and enables them to examine the world from various perspectives.
What advice do you have for kids learning how to code?
Begin your coding journey toward something that you are passionate about making. Through this journey, you will face many challenges but don’t be discouraged since coding should be rewarding at the end of the day. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions and wisely use your available resources.
