Breakout Mentors provides the most personalized way for kids to learn to code. Our year-round coding is designed for the student to stay with the same mentor for a long time, allowing them to build a rapport and keep advancing.

The sessions are billed on a monthly basis. Each session is 90 minutes long and scheduled at a regular time each week with the flexibility to reschedule or skip. We have three different packages based upon the minimum sessions a month, which gives parents the maximum flexibility!

Two Session Package
$295 / month

  • Includes two 90-minute sessions – weekly schedule with flexibility to skip
  • Additional sessions are $125 each
  • 1-on-1 personalized instruction in Python, Java, Scratch, web, and more
  • Challenging and fun project-based learning

Six Session Package
$625 / month

  • Includes six 90-minute sessions – twice weekly schedule with flexibility to skip
  • Additional sessions are $90 each
  • 1-on-1 personalized instruction in Python, Java, Scratch, web, and more
  • Challenging and fun project-based learning

Which is Right for Me?

The vast majority of our students opt for the 3 sessions per month package. This provides the best value while still maintaining flexibility: you can skip one week a month. If you are able to fit in a session every week in the month, that 4th session is heavily discounted at just $95!

If you need extra flexibility, you may consider the 2 sessions per month package. Or if you want to accelerate the learning by meeting twice per week, the 6 sessions per month package is excellent.

Logistics that work for you

The regular day and time is based on your preference, including weekends. It is one of the many variables we take into account when pairing your son or daughter with the perfect mentor. There is flexibility to reschedule directly with the mentor if there is a conflict.

The majority of sessions are held on the college campus: Stanford or UC Berkeley (we also have a couple talented mentors at University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University available upon request). They grab a study table and the parents usually stay at a nearby table. We can also explore in-home for an extra fee if you live within 5 miles.

For families that live even farther away or outside the Bay Area, we do video conference sessions as well. The student shares their screen and still talks with the mentor live while they code.

What will they learn?

This is highly personalized for each student. Please see this webpage for more details.
